Youth Science Training and Education Camp (YSTEC)

Introduction

"Youth Science Training and Education Camp (YSTEC, pronounced as Wise-Tec)" is committed to promote students' interest in science and engineering for Korean heritage 7th to 11th grade students, fostering confidence future generation students in science and engineering achievement, and encouraging campers' enrollment in future science and engineering courses. YSTEC is co-hosted by Houston Korean Education Center and KSEA South Texas Chapter.

2011 Youth Training & Education Champ - Spring Camp
"The Future of Aerospace Engineering"

Is your dream to be a rocket engineer in future? The KSEA-ST Youth Training and Education Camp is an educational program to motivate young students to study aerospace engineering technology and development. The program includes space oriented, aircraft themed, and outdoor oriented programs.

YSTEC will motivate their interest in aerospace engineering by

  1. Lectures of aerospace engineering technology and development
  2. Panel discussion with parents "how to prepare for engineering school
  3. Science project "Water bottle rocket"

Qualification: 7th - 12th grade students
Registration Fee: $20 (Seats Limited to the first 40 students)

Lecture "Aerospace - Today and Tomorrow"

  1. General overview of aerospace industry - Past and Future.
  2. Emerging technology and products in aerospace industry, including future aircraft and spacecraft.
  3. Overview of International Space Station and Space Shuttle.
  4. Expectations from potential young engineers.
  5. If possible, presentation with interesting pictures, videos, and/or hardware.
  6. Question and Answer
